The Importance of Multidisciplinary Legal Learning to Answer Contemporary Legal Challenges in Indonesia

Legal education in Indonesia faces great challenges in responding to the growing complexity of contemporary legal issues, such as technological advances, social change, and global political dynamics. Multidisciplinary legal learning, which integrates various disciplines such as economics, sociology, technology and politics, is expected to be a solution to these challenges. This article discusses the importance of a multidisciplinary approach in legal education in Indonesia to prepare law students to face increasingly complex legal issues. By integrating knowledge from other disciplines, law students can have a more holistic and applicable understanding of legal issues that are not only limited to formal legal aspects, but also the broader social and economic context. While this approach promises to improve the quality of legal education, there are a number of challenges in its implementation in Indonesia, including limited resources, faculty resistance, and a lack of integrated learning materials. This article also provides recommendations regarding the steps that need to be taken by the government, universities, and legal education institutions to implement a multidisciplinary curriculum to produce graduates who are more competent and prepared to face future legal challenges.
