Abstract

This study conducts a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) to examine the role of digital public speaking in fostering community empowerment and rural development within the context of Society 5.0. Drawing upon 97 peer-reviewed articles published between 2015 and 2025 from academic databases such as Scopus, ScienceDirect, IEEE Xplore, Springer, Google Scholar, DOAJ, and Garuda, the review identifies emerging trends, key findings, research gaps, and practical implications. The findings reveal that digital public speaking enhances accessibility to knowledge, increases community confidence, and strengthens participation, digital literacy, and local leadership. Moreover, digital platforms function not only as tools for communication but also as channels for local product marketing, social advocacy, and global networking. However, challenges remain in rural contexts, including limited digital infrastructure, low literacy levels, and cultural resistance. This study contributes theoretically by proposing a conceptual framework that integrates digital communication with rural development and practically by offering strategies for academics, governments, and communities to enhance communication capacity. Future research should focus on empirical, field-based studies in Indonesian villages using mixed methods to develop adaptive models for technology adoption in rural areas.
